Which Italian Regions Fit Your Vibe, According to Your Zodiac Sign?

Here, the Italian regions you should move to, visit, and never step foot in:

A breakfast tray with pancakes, syrup, jam, coffee on a rumpled white-sheeted hotel bed; visible hotel logos in soft light. A breakfast tray with pancakes, syrup, and berries sits on a white bed; Hotel d’Inghilterra Roma logo appears on the right.

ARIES

Where you should move: These active and energetic fire signs find their match in Valle D’Aosta, a region that you can practically hike, ski, and bike the entirety of. The opportunities for adventure here are plentiful

Where you should visit: The spirited Aries should visit a city that never sleeps, one with constant stimulation (think Rione Sanità) and a vibrant nightlife: Naples, capital of Campania.

Where you should never step foot: Umbria; it’s too bucolic and slow-paced for you bunch, and we’d wager that you’d find its rolling hills monotonous.

Rione Sanità, Naples

TAURUS

Where you should move: You Taureans love peaceful and serene settings with a touch of luxury and comfort, and Umbria is just that. Plus, we’ve never known a Taurus who isn’t drawn to crafts; we can just imagine you whiling your days away learning to make Viterbo’s zaffera pottery and Assisi’s lace

Where you should visit: Tuscany! You’ll find the indulgences you’re known for in the rich red wines and sumptuous meats of the region. (Plus, if you do move to Umbria, you slow-going Tauruses will love that you don’t have to travel far!)

Where you should never step foot: The capital of our country, and the capital of Lazio, Rome. It’s too chaotic and disorderly for you, and you’d get frustrated by how complicated it can be to get from point A to point B

Vineyards in Tuscany

GEMINI

Where you should move: Milan, the capital of Lombardy. Dynamic, fast-paced, and fun, fun, fun (especially at night), Milan will help these social butterflies spread their wings. Plus, Geminis will have a blast exploring the food scene of Italy’s most culturally diverse city.

Where you should visit: Particularly entertaining for these community-minded air signs would be a weekend in Valle D’Aosta, where they can drink from a grolla, or friendship cup, filled with grappa! Geminis’ hyper nature will find an outlet in the endless daytime activities too.

Where you should never step foot: Sardinia. Isolation is not for these air signs, and the island is 282.4 km (175.5 miles) from the mainland. Eek.

Valle D'Aosta

CANCER

Where you should move: Cancers love places with a strong sense of community and familial connections. What better than Puglia, where family is a core value and nonne roll out orecchiette in the streets of Bari

Where you should visit: You nurturing water signs are going coastal; you’d absolutely soak up the nostalgia of Marche, especially the seaside town of Fano (try their famous fish soup–as cozy as a Cancer!).

Where you should never step foot: Though beautiful, the harsh landscape of Basilicata is at odds with the tender spirit of Cancer.

Fano, Marche

LEO

Where you should move: Leos love the limelight and have an inherent penchant for the dramatic–and what’s more dramatic than Basilicata’s Matera? It’s a cinematic hotspot for a reason, after all! (We love Matera’s work in James Bond’s No Time to Die.)

Where you should visit: On holiday, Leos want a caper to grand or opulent locations with a touch of drama and theatricality. How about Veneto during Venice’s carnival season? The embellished period costumes and extravagant masquerades are right up their alley.

Where you should never step foot: Puglia; these lions would miss flamboyance and flair in Italy’s heel, a region that is simple, honest, and pure (as are its antiques).

VIRGO

Where you should move: Given Virgo’s penchant for order, a clean, well-organized city would be perfect: we recommend Turin, the capital of Piedmont, an elegant, well-kept city that has never relied on the whims of tourists

Where you should visit: Virgos are the type to enjoy hiking, bird-watching, or simply unwinding in a tranquil environment on holiday. Trentino-Alto Adige is perfect for these earth signs any time of year, though Virgos will particularly love the omnipresent saunas in the colder months.

Where you should never step foot: A Virgo’s nightmare is someplace disorderly and chaotic–avoid Naples, capital of Campania, at all costs. Driving those “one-way” streets would most likely give them a heart attack.

Val Gardena, Trentino Alto Adige

LIBRA

Where you should move: These unashamed aesthetes would find their place in Liguria, where they’d find their artistic expression matched by the colorful towns and houses of the coastline. And what could be more aesthetic than hills that drop directly into the sea

Where you should visit: Libras are lovers of beauty, art, and harmonious landscapes. Tuscany is a shoo-in for these air signs–from the Renaissance perfection of Florence to the rolling hills of Chianti and the sequined masterpieces of Niki de Saint Phalle (Libras are drawn to the sparkly and shiny, aren’t they?).

Where you should never step foot: The most indecisive sign of the zodiac, Libras are better off staying away from Veneto–having to choose among so many cicchetti would make their heads spin!

Liguria

SCORPIO

Where you should move: Someplace intense and mysterious, with depth and transformative energy. We can’t think of anywhere better than Calabria–and, speaking of transformation, have you read about Aspromonte’s

Where you should visit: These scorpions are deep, and love to explore the nooks and crannies of their friends and partners’ psyches. We think they’d find similar satisfaction diving into Lazio’s countryside, where you find lush secret gardens, like the Bosco Monumentale del Sasseto, and hidden ghost towns (Scorpios do love the spooky!).

Where you should never step foot: Scorpios are allergic to the superficial, and, contrary to their neighboring Libras, would find the painted houses of Liguria too fake for their tastes.

Chiesa di San Bonaventura at Antica Monterano, Aspromonte

SAGITTARIUS

Where you should move: Molise! You’re drawn towards adventurous and expansive territories offering new horizons, and, although many joke that Molise does not exist, there’s lots to explore in this little region. (And we think Sagittarians would be extra excited to prove those jokers wrong.)

Where you should visit: Sagittarians deeply value freedom of expression and places with cultural diversity; Friuli-Venezia Giulia has got both, and it’s reflected in the landscapes (you’ve got mountains, foothills, and sea), languages (Friulian is its own!), and food (here are 20 of our favorites from the region).

Where you should never step foot: Sagittarians hate routine and repetition, and might get bored by the flat, agricultural landscape of Emilia Romagna.

Friuli Venezia Giulia

CAPRICORN

Where you should move: Capricorns thrive in structured, career-oriented cities with opportunities for success, and Piedmont’s Turin might just be Italy’s best-functioning one. (Plus, not so far away is the wine country of Le Langhe–perfect for when these earth signs want to let loose!)

Where you should visit: Capricorns are often history buffs and love to explore locations with strong traditions; these goats will have a blast capering around Sardinia, exploring the centuries-old shepherding traditions and munching on pecorino

Where you should never step foot: Capricorns run from chaos, so it’s no surprise they’d struggle in Sicily, especially if they dared step foot in a market like Palermo’s Ballarò.

Turin

AQUARIUS

Where you should move: These air signs are right at home in progressive and innovative places with a focus on change and activism; that’s Bologna, the capital of Emilia Romagna, for you!

Where you should visit: Aquarians love visiting communities that embrace unconventional or futuristic ideas, and the Trabocchi coastline of Abruzzo, which has seen its ancient architecture repurposed, is just that

Where you should never step foot: Traditionalistic places aren’t you forward-looking Aquarians cup of tea; avoid Calabria. (Though we think the strong identity of the region is pretty neat, especially when you venture beyond Tropea.)

EMILIA ROMAGNA: The Garisenda Tower in Bologna

PISCES

Where you should move: In the Dolomites of Trentino-Alto Adige, it certainly will be easier for you Pisces to have your heads in the clouds like you like to. This ski-destination and its rifugi match the water sign’s desire for a creative and spiritually nurturing environment with a touch of magic. Luckily, there are lots of Alpine lakes, so these little fishies won’t feel out of water.

Where you should visit: When Pisces go on vacation, they look for secluded, dreamy locations that foster artistic or spiritual growth. Sicily certainly fits the bill–it’s been the site of myths and artists (including these fantastic female ones!) for centuries, after all.

Where you should never step foot: Pisces don’t fit into harsh or overly logical settings that stifle imagination, and they might find Lombardy, especially Milan, a bit too drab and gray for their liking (though we beg to disagree).
