A home away from home: it may sound cliche, but in this case, it’s quite literally true. San Sanino is not just home to family Laura, Ubaldo and their children Giacomo and Bianca, but it’s their dream house–an 1700s farmhouse, acquired and renovated by the family in the late 90s. It was only later, in the early 2000s, that Laura and Ubaldo decided their Val d’Orcia dream could be shared, opening their home to people from all over the world and nursing their passions for design, hospitality and food: Villa San Sanino was born. Located in Torrita di Siena–a fortress town erected to defend the republic of Siena and first mentioned in writing around 1037–the relais and resort lies in between Val d’Orcia, Val di Chiana and the town of Siena.

Around their family home, Ubaldo and Laura built four independent presidential suites and a private restaurant (exclusive to guests) on the estate. Each suite is the perfect, cozy country home, and their design–wooden beams, terracotta floors, antique furniture–combines the typical Tuscan farmhouse style with the family’s tastes. The appliances and bathrooms reflect Ubaldo’s engineering background, and all suites are connected to high speed wifi, have access to Netflix and international TV, and boast two-person jacuzzis with light therapy.

Available for rental as a full property or as single suites, Villa San Sanino’s intimate size makes it a unique hospitality experience of unparalleled privacy and continuous care of the wonderful family that is always ready to fulfill any needs. Giacomo and Bianca will make sure your experience is fully tailored to your desires from what you will eat to what activities you can plan in the surrounding area–a region of beautiful landscapes, DOCG wines, fine meats, pecorino cheeses, Renaissance villages, small frescoed churches, horseback riding and small hidden treasures. Whether your dream vacation is spent swimming in the salt water pool and reading books under the strawberry grape pergola, or exploring the hidden pearls of the surrounding towns and villages, Villa San Sanino is always waiting at the end of the day with a glass of local wine and a bath in your private jacuzzi with wonderful Ortigia salts and soaps selected by Laura.

Villa San Sanino does not fall short when talking about food either (both in dining and activities–don’t miss a pasta making class in the kitchen!). The private restaurant, managed by Laura, serves local, seasonal food, but will happily fulfill any guest requests with due notice. Bianca prepares mouthwatering desserts–a great passion of hers. It’s like having a restaurant that cooks only for you and your palate! What’s more, breakfasts are held at one of most beautiful tables in Tuscany. With sweeping views, under the strawberry grape pergola, you’ll dream that breakfast never ends.

A few segreti (secrets) from Laura, Ubaldo, Giacomo, and Bianca:

Del Santo – A wonderful, small shop for all things cashmere.

Podere il Casale – An incredible spot for lunch or dinner where almost all ingredients–from the honey to the cheese–are produced onsite.

Madonna delle Nevi – A red-brick chapel in Torrita di Siena built between the 12th and 13th centuries. A must to see the marble bas-relief “Donatello’s Lunette”!

Montichiello – Set high on a hilltop, this hamlet is known for its stunning, vibrant sunsets.
