Up Close with a Private Caravaggio

Rome's Most Extraordinary Private Artwork

Italy Segreta, in partnership with Merlini Storti, one of the most important Italian Art and Restoration studios, will swing open the doors to one of Rome’s most magnificent palaces, home to a privately owned Caravaggio “Conversion of Saul”. Valeria Merlini and Daniela Storti are among the leading Italian experts in restoration and conservation, whose brilliant career achievements include many masterpieces and three paintings by Caravaggio.

The experience will kick off with an exclusive sneak peek to a private palace, where the owner keeps the “Conversion of Saul” by Caravaggio, a painting that is part of her private collection and which was restored by the studio in 2006. Guests will be able to observe the canvas up close, accompanied by an explanation of the restoration process that the latter underwent.

The experience will then continue on to the Art Restoration and Conservation Studio where Italy Segreta’s guests will have the chance to meet and talk to an engineer specialized in scientific analyses on paintings, who will perform thorough investigation on a painting whilst explaining the importance of such in-depth studies on works of art.
